This post is about Drivers. By drivers we mean someone who is driving. right? Well yes but in computer world, a driver is not a driver of a car or bus as we understand. Although the work of the driver is acting as a medium between operating system and a particular hardware device.

What is a Driver in Computer World ?

A driver in computer means a set of instructions or files which acts as a medium between operating system and a particular hardware device. Without specific drivers of a hardware device, a computer's operating system will not be able to recognize the dev ice and device will not work. Different hardware devices come with their respective drivers for specific operating systems.

Let us take an example. Suppose i have attached a newly bought printer to my laptop or a computer. This printer is unknown to my laptop so it will not work unless i install the required drivers. My laptop's operating system is unable to understand this new device without its drivers. Hence the role of drivers becomes significant in establishing a communication between printer and laptop. Once i install the required drivers, i can use the printer device for printing through my laptop.

Where can i get Drivers for a Hardware Device?

Driver CD usually comes with a Hardware Device. If CD is not available, we can always download drivers from internet. While downloading we have to mention specific hardware device for which we are looking for drivers. As already told, drivers are device specific and operating system specific. It is best to mention model number of your device and your laptop's Operating System on internet for which you are looking for drivers.

Example- Type like this in google to search for drivers of a device if CD is not available.

 drivers for (device model name) for (your laptop/computer Operating system)

How to Install Drivers of a Hardware Device ?

The Installation is very straight forward in many cases. Once you have the required drivers, you can go to setup files which will run once you open it. You have to follow simple on screen instructions for finishing driver installation. I will write a separate post in my Training and Learning section of the blog with step by step method on how to install drivers.

यह पोस्ट ड्राइवर्स के बारे में है। ड्राइवरों से हमारा तात्पर्य है वो जो चला रहा है। सही? ठीक है, लेकिन कंप्यूटर की दुनिया में, एक ड्राइवर एक कार या बस का ड्राइवर नहीं है जैसा कि हम समझते हैं। यद्यपि ड्राइवर का कार्य ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम और एक विशेष हार्डवेयर डिवाइस के बीच एक माध्यम के रूप में कार्य करना है।

कंप्यूटर की दुनिया में एक ड्राइवर क्या है?

कंप्यूटर में ड्राइवर का अर्थ है निर्देशों या फाइलों का एक सेट जो ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम और एक विशेष हार्डवेयर डिवाइस के बीच एक माध्यम के रूप में कार्य करता है। हार्डवेयर डिवाइस के विशिष्ट ड्राइवरों के बिना, कंप्यूटर का ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम उस डिवाइस को पहचान नहीं पाएगा और डिवाइस काम नहीं करेगा। एक ड्राइवर, डिवाइस और ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम विशिष्ट है। विभिन्न हार्डवेयर डिवाइस विशिष्ट ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम के लिए संबंधित ड्राइवरों के साथ आते हैं।

एक उदाहरण लेते हैं। मान लीजिए कि मैंने अपने लैपटॉप या कंप्यूटर में एक नया खरीदा प्रिंटर संलग्न किया है। यह प्रिंटर मेरे लैपटॉप के लिए अज्ञात है इसलिए यह तब तक काम नहीं करेगा जब तक मैं आवश्यक ड्राइवरों को स्थापित नहीं करता। मेरे लैपटॉप का ऑपरेटिंग सिस्टम ड्राइवरों के बिना इस नए डिवाइस को समझने में असमर्थ है। इसलिए प्रिंटर और लैपटॉप के बीच संचार स्थापित करने में ड्राइवरों की भूमिका महत्वपूर्ण हो जाती है। एक बार जब मैं आवश्यक ड्राइवरों को स्थापित करता हूं, तो मैं अपने लैपटॉप के माध्यम से प्रिंटिंग के लिए प्रिंटर डिवाइस का उपयोग कर सकता हूं।

हार्डवेयर डिवाइस के ड्राइवर कैसे स्थापित करें?

स्थापना/इंस्टालेशन कई मामलों में बहुत आसान  है। एक बार जब आपके पास आवश्यक ड्राइवर होते हैं, तो आप सेटअप फ़ाइलों पर जा सकते हैं जो इसे खोलते ही चलेंगे। आपको ड्राइवर इंस्टॉलेशन को पूरा करने के लिए स्क्रीन पर दिए गए निर्देशों का पालन करना होगा। मैं अपने ब्लॉग के लर्निंग और ट्रेनिंग सेक्शन में विस्तृत जानकारी के साथ एक अलग पोस्ट लिखूंगा की कैसे ड्राइवर्स इनस्टॉल करते हैं।
